On wednesday, I went swimming at 2pm without having lunch. I was so hungry the whole time, the only thing I could think about was going home and making myself a chicken sandwich. Wasabi mayo, with pine nuts and raisins. I kept swiming faster so that I could finish my 1km and go home and eat. I made it in 30mins, my best time so far.
That's one way to speed up..

One of the much valued perk of being full time at StriveWell is my daily 1km swims at noon. It's really a small
piece of heaven... peaceful bliss. I am trying to get back in shape, hopefully I can get back to my 2004 days when I was swimming 2km daily. I usually finish my 1km in 38mins. Recently when I was browsing for blogs for StriveWell, I read an article on triathlon swim training. The advise was to make sure you pulls completes a follow through by checking that your thumb brushes against your tights. I tried that technique, and boy I could feel my triceps burning. So even though my stroke count has decrease due to the underused triceps, I actually shave my time down to 33mins. 5 mins improvement, not bad at all.
Jack and I have been so busy with the development of StriveWell this whole year. Working night and weekends in addition to his regular job at Xilinx and my part time consulting gig at LSI. We had planned this getaway for many moons, as our 2nd yr anniversay June 7th. We had to reschedule this trip due to the conflict with Ken's wedding in Boston, and Jack didn't want to take a break until StriveWell actually Betaed.. didn't want to break any momentum. So we finally Betaed, Carmel here we come.
Invited some friends over for some wine, and help us look for bugs in StriveWell

SW bug testing party, thanks Rick for bringing the Champagne

Took the Miata, top down and drove down Hwy 1 by the coast. No dogs, just one bag could come with us. First stop was Capitola beach. We had lunch at this great bakery called Gayle's bakery. The food and dessert was just fabulous. My mouth still waters for the swiss roll style chocolate suffle.
All these people are lineing up for a slice of goodness..
Jack was a happy camper after the fabulous lunch and sitting outdoor on a beautiful day.

Next stop after lunch was the Capitola beach area, it was nothing but ordinary. It was very sunny, but the fog rolled in and you could see silhouette of sail boats on the horizon. Quite mystical looking. Unfortunately my camera could not capture that.

We finally reached the Hyatt Highland Inn in Carmel, when I stepped into our room I couldn't stop saying wow. We had the view of the pacific ocean, off Point Lobos state park from our room. the room was equipt with a kitchen, a living room, a hot tub, a binoculous for bird watching.
This was the view from our room, ahh.. I could get used to this :)

We took a hike around Point Lobos national park the next day. It was quite nice, we even saw deers on the trail.
Our batteries all recharged after this trip.
